Couples

Let's be honest, every relationship has a dynamic, a pattern. That pattern often gets smoothed over until it eventually becomes too big to ignore. This can look like disconnection, having the same argument over and over, or questioning whether it's time to part ways. Our couples work will be focused on understanding the deeper themes in your relationship to create more connection. And, there are times when a relationship had come to the end of its lifespan. I can help you navigate this process with intention and care as well.

EMDR

Trauma takes many forms. From a car accident, to years spent in an abusive relationship. It can impact how we related to ourselves and the rest of the world. Often we manage trauma by compartmentalizing it and "moving on". Talking about our experiences can lend some relief but sometimes we need a different approach and that's where EMDR comes in. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a well studied and empirically validated form of therapy that helps the brain heal from traumatic experiences. Through the use of eye movements or hand held "tappers" the brain is stimulated in such a way as to reprocess a traumatic memory or experience. The result is often less reactivity to certain situations and more compassion towards yourself. This can allow you to remember the incident without experiencing the same level of charge. Clients also describe the ability to move through similar experiences (i.e revisiting the location of a trauma, getting in a car after an accident) without feeling as triggered as before.

Individuals

We all hit a point of realizing we're carrying too much. Sometimes we've pushed feelings aside for so long we don't even know how we feel, let alone what to do about them. If you're tired of barely keeping your head above water, therapy can be a great space to slow down, take a look around and figure out your next steps. No two people are the same, so taking into account your life experiences and current needs, we'll find the right path for you.
